浙江地处中国东南沿海、长江三角州南翼，省会杭州市与中国上海相距180公里，素有“鱼米之乡、丝茶之府、文物之邦、旅游胜地”之美誉。浙江经济社会发展迅速而均衡，主要经济社会发展指标在中国保持领先地位，是一个开放程度较高、充满现代气息、极具发展活力的省份。

　　浙江经济社会的快速发展，植根于灿烂丰厚的文化底蕴和创业创新的人文精神。浙江境内存有距今约万年的上山文化、距今约8000年的跨湖桥遗址、距今约7000年的河姆渡文化遗址、距今约6000年的马家浜文化遗址和距今约5000年的良渚文化遗址，在中华文明史上书写了辉煌的篇章。现代文明与古老传统绵延相接，传承了源远流长的浙江文化；自然生态与人文景观交相辉映，展示了精致和谐的浙江风光。

　　为了进一步促进浙江与约克横勃大区两省区的文化交流与合作，增进相互之间的了解和友谊，我们在此举办“寻梦浙江——中国浙江古镇风情摄影图片展、图书展”。这次展出的60多幅摄影图片和300册图书，真实记录了浙江大地丰富而独特的民俗风情，浓缩显现了浙江悠久的历史文化，生动描绘了浙江奇山秀水的东方神韵，鲜活展示了浙江古镇的人文生态，真实反映了浙江的历史文化传承和时代发展的勃勃生机。

　　我们期望这次摄影展、图书展能给英国观众带来美好的视觉感受和文化之旅，5000多万浙江人民真诚地欢迎大家到中国浙江观光旅游。

　　SEEKING DREAMS IN ZHEJIANG

　　——Photos of Ancient Towns and Books from Zhejiang, China

　　Zhejiang Province is situated along the southeastern coast of China on the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta. Its capital city—Hangzhou—neighbors Shanghai at a distance of 180 miles. Zhejiang has long been known as a land with rich output of fishes and grains, an original producer of silk and tea, a state with abundant cultural relics and a paradise for tourists. With its economy growing rapidly in a balanced way and the major indices of its economic development staying in leading places in the country, it is regarded as a province highly opened up, modernized, and rich in economic vitality.

　　Zhejiang’s high-speed development is rooted in its rich cultural content and pioneering spirit. You can find the Shangshan Culture of about 10,000 years ago, the Kuahuqiao Culture of about 8,000 years old, the Hemudu Culture Relics dated back 7,000 years, as well as the Liangzhu Culture Relics with 5,000 years’ history, which left a splendid chapter in Chinese civilization. Modern civilization connects closely with the ancient traditions and inherits a long history of Zhejiang culture. The great natural beauty of Zhejiang, seen in its delicate and harmonious scenery, has long been famous.

　　To promote the cultural exchanges and cooperation between Zhejiang and Yorkshire Forward, further deepen the understanding and friendship between our peoples, we are pleased to hold this exhibition of SEEKING DREAMS IN ZHEJIANG—Photos of Ancient Towns and Books of Zhejiang, China. The 60 pictures and 300 books here will provide you with a taste of the rich and distinctive flavor of Zhejiang Province, a glimpse of its long history, as well as a portray of the rich and particular folk romantic charm of the beautiful mountains and rivers in Zhejiang. It is our expectation that they could bring you a fantastic visual and cultural enjoyment. The 50 million Zhejiang people will warmly welcome and receive you there.
