Ningbo is the home place of the love legend between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai while Verona of Italy is the hometown of Romeo and Juliet. The two cities got linked with each other via the touching love legends. On Sept 24, the Juliet Square of Verona turned into a square of happiness and romance. Accompanied by the melodious music, a love-theme festival cosponsored by Ningbo and Verona got unveiled on the square.

　　 At the opening ceremony, the statue of Liang-Zhu Butterfly was unveiled. It was a gift from Ningbo. Wang Zhuohui, vice chairman of CPPCC Ningbo Committee and mayor of Verona unveiled the statue together. The butterfly statue was delivered to Verona in August. It was made of a white marble stone and a bluestone, each weighing 3.8 tons respectively. It took Ningbo sculpture artisans nine months to complete the work. The statue will stand at the Juliet Square permanently. According to Mr. 派西尼, speaker of the legislative body of Verona, the city is full of expectations of the butterfly statue. He says this is the first time that Verona has accepted a statue gift from other lands.
